Hey Tracy,

If you're getting a bunch of minor, and no so minor glitches, your best bet is to delete the Style Master preferences file, which you can find at "(username)/Library/com.westciv.styleMaster.plist" and any file in there called "Style Master" - there may be one or two others.

So, if you can delete those files, then try restarting, it may work.

If it doesn't could you also try deleting then reinstalling the application.

Cheers,

Following the tutorial, I cannot create ID Selectors. Absolutely 'Nothing' happens! Of course, I can create it manually, but the whole point is that I need a program that will speed up my turn around time, as I've been coding CSS by hand for quite some time, and at this point it's just too time consuming. It would be nice if this program would work, minus the [other] glitches I've found, but none as nerve-racking as this one.

FYI: I am running OS X 10.5.8, using Style Master v. 5.0.0

I followed the instructions of the tutorial but i couldnt find anything .

Can you help ? Thanks.

Hi dmcd,

I just got this program and began the tutorial while wating for the confirmation to be emailed to me.

It took about an hour or so and the only part i needed to re-read was this lesson 46, but once i did read it again it was my not reading it quite right, the instructions are correct all the way through and it does say where to make the selections even..

Your looking for this instruction:

To place the image in the center at the top

In the background-position section of the Background Editor

1. set horizontal to center

2. set vertical to top

hope you get it sorted....

Derek,

I'll have to look into that, as you shouldn't be getting duplicates - however, at present Style Master doesn't check for duplicates in your current style sheet while adding new ones - this shows the feature's heritage as "new style sheet from HTML document"

But I'll put it on the to do list to address,

Hi,

As per the tutorial, creating a new stylesheet using the 'New from HTML document' produces duplicate selectors for body, h1, h2, p etc. Is it best to just manually delete these? It would be nice if there was a Remove Duplicates button on the statement list window.

first, thanks for the nice comments about Style Master.

To clarify - is the marhin on the body of the page?
Is this when you preview in a browser from inside Style Master? If you open a "real" HTML document (that is one you create not the preview one Style Msster creates)does the problem persist, or is all ok?

thanks again,

Turns out that it's actually off by 2 pixels. If I make the margin= -2px; then everything moves flush to the left and top.

Hi - just went through your tutorial in one sitting. First of all, AWESOME. Knew alot of this already, but there the position stuff really helped clear up some core concepts for me.

Working on a Mac using Safari & Firefox and am seeing that I'm not getting a flush line at the top and leftmost for Margin. There's just a 1 pixel gap where the background bleeds through and so it looks funny/polka dotted. Wondering if there's some other setting to push the entire content to the far left and up - or am I running into something strange that is Mac specific?

BTW, I'll be purchasing your product here in the next few minutes. I've been using TopStyle for many years and I actually like your product MUCH better. The X-Ray feature is an amazing concept!

Would appreciate an answers as to why this 1 pixel thing is happening. Don't think it's related to your product, but wondering if there's a rule that's missing?

Hi, I'm on my first day of trialing Style Master and am struggling through the tutorial.

Before I get down to specific problems with this, I'd like to say that this programme, once I get the hang of it, is probably going to be a godsend to me.

Before looking at Style Master, I'd been trying to understand the logic behind CSS and not getting very far. As a longtime Dreamweaver user in strictly WYSIWYG mode, heavy on the tables use, I couldn't get my head around coding html, let alone understanding and coding CSS. To be honest, I'm not interested in hand coding anything. Too many better things to do. I just need a quickish means to an end, like most novice webmasters and loathe that "made with table everywhere" look.

I knew there had to be something better and that CSS was it, but I guess I'm getting a bit long in the tooth to pick up radically different concepts easily. Working through the Style Master tutorial, already there are little faint light bulbs flickering feebly above my head. I think I'm finally learning something about CSS.

There are lots of little inconsistancies in the tutorial, obviously because the version I'm using is different to the version for which the tut was written. With a little bit of commonsense, I've found my way through minor changes of names of components etc. Now I'm stumped though at Lesson 46 on the background-position properties of outer-image. How on earth do I:-

'... place the image in the center at the top

In the background-position section of the Background Editor

1. set horizontal to center

2. set vertical to top'????

I've managed to hand code the example of the desired coding result, but the outer-image is not behaving as it should.

Could someone take a look at this tut and offer some sage advice please? There are simply no commands available in the background editor to centre the horizontal and align the vertical to top. Please don't tell me I have to do mathematical calculations to define the centre and top - I flunked maths. Strictly humanities for me.

I find the following instructions from Exercise 12 confusing: "Just put them in directly under the body statement." That is, "Statements with selectors for these three types of element will have been automatically created" so is the user suppose to move the three statement up until they are directly below the body statement or leave them where they appear in the tutorial?

Exercise 12

Create three new statements: to select , <h1> and <h2> elements. Just put them in directly under the body statement.

Statements with selectors for these three types of element will have been automatically created because they were in the HTML document. Just scroll down in the style sheet until you find them.
