I am a beginner with all of this (stylmaster and web development). I downloaded stylemaster with all of my courses. I have just begun the introductory course on HTML, XHTML, and CSS. I have noticed that stylemaster uses style sheets. Are style sheets appropriate for the exercises in the first course? I tried putting some of the early exercises into the middle pane (design pane?), but the results of my code don't show up immediately below. The default information about headings, etc... remains in the middle, bottom pane.

I am becoming very confused. Using StyleMater 4.6.1 and the Tutorial I have created 3 webpages controlled by a CSS. Whew.

Now I want to create a header. It's not clear what goes into the style sheet for this. Is it #header? Can I then put text and graphics in the header? Do I put this in the style sheet or in the html? Where do the div things go?

How is every header on every webpage going to be the same?

Told you I was confused.

Greetings,
I am sure I am just being slow... but I have just downloaded Style Master and started the CSS tutorial. I copy pasted the html into textedit and saved it as an html document called "index" in a folder on my desktop (root). I then choose new from HTML document and select the 'index' document. My problem is that I cannot cause it to link - nothing that looks like this:
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="core-style.css" />
</head>
gets added to my document... even when I do it manually.
As a result, my design window/web page just shows the html...
and I can change its color/font size/etc... but there is a big missing step linking the html and style sheet. Argh... so sorry to bug you with what is probably a really boneheaded confusion on my part!
Thanks much

Yes or no, is CSS enough to nail a PNG image into the bottom right corner of a browser window and keep it there as the window is resized?

My web site's splash page - only page actually - currently uses three frames to do this, one fixed-size frame in the bottom right to carry the image and two variable-size frames to its top and left which do the expansion/contraction as the window grows/shrinks. Yeah, there's gotta be a better way to do this...

Following the tutorial, I cannot create ID Selectors. Absolutely 'Nothing' happens! Of course, I can create it manually, but the whole point is that I need a program that will speed up my turn around time, as I've been coding CSS by hand for quite some time, and at this point it's just too time consuming. It would be nice if this program would work, minus the [other] glitches I've found, but none as nerve-racking as this one.

FYI: I am running OS X 10.5.8, using Style Master v. 5.0.0

I'm working my way through the tutorial as I attempt to both learn basic CSS and also see if StyleMaster is going to be the program I use to maintain our website. I seem to be running into a lot of stumbling blocks, though - already emailed support about an issue with the design pane, and command-S doesn't save (it makes screen caps). I've just hit another problem, I think.

I quote from the tutorial:
------------------------------------
To create an id selector

1. from the Statement menu select New and then ID Selector....
The ID Selector Editor opens.
2. don't worry about any of the tabs - simply type the name of your id in the field on the bottom right
3. click OK
---------------------------------------

I'm trying to create a custom id selector, and do the following:
Click the Statement menu
Click 'New'
Choose 'ID Selector'
I type in the selector word I want ('workshop', for example, but I've tried many words), click OK, and nothing happens. No new selector appears.

If I manually type in the new selector ('#workshop') in the code window, it will appear in the Statement List and all goes fine, but it seems that several of the 'New' options in the Statements menu do nothing at all.

What am I doing wrong?

I'm currently testing the demo and I'm wondering if there's a way for Stylemaster to deal with markup that exist in include files. I usually will put header and footer markup in another file to make updates easier, but it doesn't seem like Stylemaster can cope with previewing the markup I have put in the included files.

Just to be clear, this is what I want to do:

In my index.php file (and other files)

<div id="header">
 <?php include('scripts/header.inc.php'); ?>
</div>

I want to be able to preview the menu I have put in the included file. Is this possible/

Just need to be sure: there is a way to toogle between different open stylesheets in StyleMaster - right?
What is the keyboard shortcut? I am using the smaller version of the wireless keyboard from Apple, so it's possible I should use a different combination.
CTRL + Tab or ALT + TAB doesn't work, neither does COMMAND + ~ (tilde) and this is where I am now.

Also a feature request:
Wouldn't it be nice to be able to put the different stylesheets in different tabs in the same window, just like in most modern browsers?

Using demo version. Works fine with the demo HTML page but won't load another XHTML page I have. No message, just blank workspaces after the OPEN from HTML.

Is this a restriction on the demo version?

I'm building a vertical navigation menu in left hand column on the following page:
http://www.metamotiondesign.co.uk/ruscrete/index.html
When you hover over main buttons, you'll view a vertical row of submenu buttons. At the bottom of each submenu button there is a small gap that I cannot get rid of. Tried a number of things but new to this and cannot get my head around this last bit of code required.

Could someone give me a clue on how to correct this problem please?

Hello,

I'm an absolute beginner with Style Master and CSS, trying to find out how to turn a vertical navbar (the one in the tutorial actually) into an horizontal one. Thanks very much if you can help...

Cheers
