Is there a way to preview style sheets with root relative img tags locally? Adobe GoLive, for example, allows users to specify a root directory for the web site and therefore makes the above possible.

Bob,
at present, style master doesn't have support for this - but i'll add it to the todo list.
As a workaround, in your preview html document, you can add a base element, with a href of the root folder - it needs to be the full local path to that folder - does that make sense?
Not ideal, I know, but at least a start
